System Your Way To Riches

INTRODUCTION
The
reason for writing this book is because after being involved with this
Network Marketing Company for twelve years, the Company expanded in the
Netherlands and is going to open in other European countries.
This
gives a way to translate into the language of the country, so they can
follow our successful system.
Systems
are important, just look at McDonalds, KFC, Burger King.
I
would like to thank all the leaders who have helped put the system
together.
As
a team, we are now the biggest leg of our Company, even after joining
twenty-two years after it started MLM.
MY
STORY
As
a child I grew up in the north-east of England. Our Family
went back a few generations in the ship-building industry. At
school I was very poor and was put in the backward class for
English. I only found out that I was dyslexic after I left
school.
In
the final year at High School I did my job creation week at Newcastle
Weather Centre, however ‘A’ Levels were needed for
the job and getting A Level English looked impossible with myself being
dyslexic. We had a lesson on careers every week in which we
had to find a job for life.
However,
I had no idea what to do.
One
day I overheard one of the class who had a friend who had left school,
was making a fortune and he was rubbish at school. This gave
me my first hope. If somebody else was earning a fortune, so
could I.
One
day, just after I left school, my Nana was betting on the football
pools lottery. I put on a small amount and said I wanted to
win, so I don’t have to work.
My
Nana laughed, she said you will have to get a job and work for the rest
of your life.
My
mind made up, I had to find a hobby which would also be my
job. I was not going to work all my life in a job.
However, where do you start? In those days you were told,
just get a trade and you are set for life.
So
I followed my Dad into the shipyard and started training as a fitter
and turner engineer at Swan Hunter. At that time 40,000
people worked in the shipyards.
The
first year’s training was at a training centre and the
subsequent 4 years were on the ships, and maintenance in the shipyard.
I
remember climbing a crane in a snow storm with no safety
equipment. I could have fallen and died and all for
£30 per week!
My
heart was never in the shipyard, I started playing football at weekends
and at seventeen ended up being captain of a team of people up to the
age of thirty.
I
was asked five times to be Best Man, but made the excuse I could not do
it, but really I was frightened to make the speech.
How
that has changed now, sometimes speaking in front of 7,000 people,
I’ll tell you how that changed later.
At
eighteen I took up surfing, and was the worst at it. However
I would not quit. It took over half my life. I saw
other people doing it and I thought if they can so can I!
Every
penny I earned in the shipyard went on surfing trips around the UK and
Europe. At the age of twenty-six I won my first local
competition. I was starting to get sick of working in the
shipyard and wanted to spend more time surfing. The shipyard
had only been a stop gap job and yet ten years on, I was still
there. Are you the same?
So,
I started looking at ways my hobby could be my job.
I
started making surfboards, it was messy and not much money in it.
However
the wet suit I was using was made by a man in Devon and he was driving
around in a Porsche 911.
I
thought, well you don’t see anybody driving to the shipyard
in a Porsche. So once again I said – if he can do
it so can I. All my friends told me it would not work, why do
people always try to knock you?
Well
I would prove them wrong.
I
spent £2,000 on a special sewing machine and then a lot of
money on rubber, I then went to night classes to learn pattern
drafting. So there I was with twenty women, learning how to
make frocks, etc and boy did they take the mickey out of me.
However,
if you want to be good at anything you have to learn.
Soon
I was earning more part-time by making two wet-suits a week, than I was
earning full-time. This went on for a few years and it was
getting to the stage that I had to leave the shipyard and go full-time.
However,
jobs in the shipyard were going down from 40,000 when I started, to
6,000 when I left. What was worrying me was the cost of going
full-time. I knew from the shipyard that it was just a job
and people don’t work very hard for a boss. Also
they stole as much as they could, added to this was rent and rates of a
factory unit, etc.
Just
when I was about to go full-time I saw a friend with a badge and asked
what the silly badge was. A few days later I popped round to
find out why they were so excited. I was shown a video and I
saw the circles.

If
you found six people, who just found four people and they just found
two.
I
was so excited about those circles I could not sleep for six
weeks. I was filling every circle myself with people I knew,
never mind other people finding other people.
The
Company I joined was started in the UK in 1923 and went MLM in
1970. The top earner in the Company was earning
£12,000 a month and had started part-time as a fireman in
1960. However, in our leg, a few people up, was a Bulgarian
airline pilot who was earning £2,000 a month and was doing
that with only a few people in his team. I met him and just
with surfing and making wet-suits, thought if he could do it, so could
I.
So
whilst in the shipyard I was drawing circles on the sides of the ships
and expecting everybody to join. However, you have to
understand that not everybody can see it.
Please
read the sentence below:
“The
Finished File is the result of years of scientific development and of
research.”
See
how many F’s you can see in the sentence above.
Most
people can only see three, but after a while six. The ones in
the word “of” are the hard ones to see.
That just shows that not everybody will see things
immediately. Sometimes it takes ten viewings of the
opportunity and time for people to see it. So either e-mail
or post people of your progress, with cheques and facts about our
industry.
FOCUS
ON ONE OPPORTUNITY
When
you find out about MLM, you might not understand the power of focus and
time on an opportunity.
As
long as you have a good company, whose products are priced to move and
new product lines are added and you have a big population to go to.
I
joined our opportunity after it had been trading MLM for 22 years, its
not when you join, its what you do when you join that matters.
So
stay focused on one MLM opportunity. See on the next page
what happens if you don’t.
Here
is what happens if you try to run two opportunities instead of focusing
on one.
Say
you sponsor five people. The first column shows the growth if
you work with one Company.
The
second and third columns show the growth if you sponsor the same 5
people but put 2 of them in one Company and 3 in another.

You
can see, by doing 2 opportunities, the duplication is tiny and there
will be no leadership or team spirit.
SOME
WELL KNOWN QUOTES
Jack
of all trades, master of none.
You
can only ride one horse at a time.
An
eagle focuses on one prey at a time.
You
are going to have to give MLM at least 2 to 5 years and earn while you
learn. In any trade you have to give it 5 years.
You
have found the best opportunity in the world, so you look at the next
few years as your apprenticeship.
At
the time of writing this book, I am 13 years into our MLM opportunity.
I
am still reading books and listening to CD’s.
Never
think you know it all.
YOU
CAN ONLY HAVE 3 ANSWERS
1)
Some people say YES, and join.
2)
Some people say MAYBE.
This
is a great sign. And you send them more information until
they understand it and join on your story. You see they may
knock it, but as they see that you make money, the greed factor kicks
in, and they do not want to miss out.
3)
And the people who say NO.
Just
prove them wrong. Show them how much fun it is, send a copy
of your cheque, a picture of your new house or your new car and guess
what!
Some
of them will join too.
So
while drawing these circles on the side of the ship, one man said if
you think it’s so good, why are you still working in the
shipyard? I wish I had kept his name and address. I
thought that’s a good point – so I left the
shipyard. Though I would not tell everybody to do
that. As I learned from Jim Rohn a part-time story is better
than a full-time story.
So
I went for it and my first cheque from the Company was
£2,800. I never earned over £10,000 in a
year in the shipyard. How cool it would have been to have had
a £2,800 cheque part-time. So get yourself a story.

You

TELL – STORIES SELL
1.
You can have everything in life, if you help enough people get what
they want.
Zig
Ziglar said this years ago.
However
when I saw the circles it made sense to me. The more
successful you make people, the better for you too.
So
many people think of their success first. However the words
“ME” and “I” don’t
work. People will not work until they know how much you care
about their success. Little things, like the names
of their kids and their birthdays. Sending postcards,
Christmas cards, well done cards etc, mean massive things to them and
will help your team grow.
Over
the last twelve years we have worked on building a system that can help
everybody in your team be successful. Just look at McDonalds,
a simple system that works anywhere in the world. Each shop
is the same and can be run by seventeen year olds just out of school.
The
main parts of the system are:

Books and tapes
2.
Voice Messaging System
3.
E-mail System
The
best way to get started is to get a group of people you know to look at
the opportunity. Write a list of everybody you know and get
them to look at a video or CD ROM or get somebody to explain the
concept. You can sometimes get six or more people to join in
a night, this gets them excited and starts a great story.

When
I read these books I could not sleep with excitement. When
people you talk to say they know everything about MLM, I just say have
you read these books? If they say no, they know nothing about
MLM. I have sponsored so many people over the years by just
letting them read these books.
You
see I was so bad at school at reading. I knew a book had to
capture your attention fast. These books are very simple to
read and get you excited.
95%
of the population are not highly educated and we need that percentage
of the population to build a business in MLM. The 5% who are
highly educated and can read the books quickly, may be on a good
income, but not used to the income and lifestyle that can be earned in
MLM. So use the books, they work! Make sure your
team has access to more training and personal development books.
I
have read loads over the years, a lot of the books are on tape or
CD. This gives you a great opportunity to learn while you
drive and with traffic so bad now, you might as well be learning in
your car.
When
you were at school you were told to learn your tables off by
heart. Listen to the tapes ten times and you will pick up all
the information. As you are driving you have to concentrate
on the driving at some point and miss a bit on tape or CD. So
listen again and again.

With
technology nowadays, it’s so easy to set up e-mail
systems. This gives you the power to set up one e-mail to
send information to a lot of people. The best one I have
found is GetResponse This can be used also to send follow up
e-mails and training e-mails.

Voice messaging training systems.
We
call ours The Interactive Training System (ITS)
Our
team exploded when people joined our Voice Messaging System.
Here are the facts by Edward Ludbrook as to why voice messaging works
so well.

The
table on the next page illustrates the results of independent tests:
Independent
tests were carried out in the USA where two network groups were
monitored for one year.
One
group used messaging, the other did not. The results were
staggering:

Most
telling was that the messaging group bought 100 percent more product
than the non-messaging group.
This
test was conducted over 1 year. If you extrapolate these
statistics over 5 years, the messaging group grows by 350% and is
strong as many people have been associated for some years.
The other group declines to one – you.
4.
MEETINGS, TRAINING, CONFERENCE CALLS, SIZZLE
MEETINGS
These
can start off in the house showing a group of people the
opportunity. The fastest and cheapest way to build a team is
to contact as many people in your warm market. The Warm
Market Hot List is everybody in your address book and nowadays your
e-mail address book.
If
you do not have a local meeting place and have too many people for the
house, move to a hotel room. Start with a small room, this
gives a good atmosphere. Run for 8:00pm to 9:00pm, start on
time, have positive music in the background. There should be
a short opportunity Presentation, say 15 to 20 minutes, a short break
and a different training lasting another 20 minutes.
Do
recognition and have lots of stories. Remember Facts Tell,
Stories Sell.
How
to use the Meeting:
There
should be a background of positive music, people coming early can
introduce themselves to different people already in the business, and
if they are of the same professions it will give a bond, that is if
they can do it, so can you.
Make
sure nobody speaks negatively, we are in a positive business.
If you have something you want sorting, always pass negativity to an
upline, this will put you back on track.
A
good way to remember this is when you are sick, you are sick up.
In
the Opportunity Presentation use income stories of product
movers. In the break, have people meeting each other, the
more bonds you can make the better.
The
training. If you do not have a local training to go to, you
have to start your own as I did. There are lots of books out
there you can use for training. Keep training to 20
minutes. Timing is important to new guests who come to a
meeting. If you say it will be an hour, make sure it runs to
time. If the speaker who is doing the training has 20 minutes
and takes 1½ hours it will upset a lot of people and they
won’t come back.
How
hard is it to watch your watch?
I
used to practice in the mirror.
You
remember early in the book I said I turned down being best man loads of
times because I was frightened to speak in public.
However,
my excitement of the opportunity was such that I had to start speaking
and training people.
At
the start I was nervous, but I had a couple of drinks. I had
practiced in front of the mirror, but what I found was that in the MLM
world, everybody wants to help you.
Looking
back, my first presentations were poor, however I was enthusiastic and
when there were only twelve people at the first meeting I gave it in a
house and only later in a hotel. The more you do it, the
better you get. Watch what other people do. Once
your team grows run training meetings yourself if there is no upline
meeting locally.
We
call our larger meetings “Millionaire Meetings” as
when you are earning over £5,000 a month you have a
millionaires lifestyle. If you had £1,200,000 in
the bank at 5% interest, that would give you £5,000 a month.
In
the UK it is a big dream to have enough money in the bank and live off
the interest. When you hit £5,000 a month you have
that Millionaires Lifestyle. We have lots in our team earning
much more. However, if you are sitting on a beach earning
£5,000 a month Ha Ho.
Major
training events are every 4 to 8 weeks. The Millionaires
Training runs from 12 noon to 4:00pm. Lots of recognitions,
nuts and bolts training and people speaking from different areas
telling what they are getting from the business in lifestyle.
We
also have lots of personal development books, tapes and CDs on sale.
Sometimes
people run Party Nights, this is a great way for people to talk and get
a bond.
At
Mega Training Events we have engaged international speakers.
We have used Jan Ruhe, Edward Ludbrook, Big Al (Tom) Schreiter and Don
Failla.
Conference
calls can be used. This is where you get a speaker or trainer
to speak for 30 minutes. You can set up a group of people in
a house and listen to the call on a loudspeaker phone. This
ends up being a sizzle after the call and it is a good way to get
people speaking in front of a group. A lot of great tips can
be found at these sizzles.
The
speaker phone can also be a way of doing long distance sponsoring to a
group. In the early days a prospect assembled a group of
twelve people round at his house. I phoned them at 8:00pm and
told my story and said to watch the Company video for 20
minutes. I phoned back 20 minutes later to answer any
questions. Ten people joined that night and got his business
off to a fast start.

If
you are new, you have the power of a team, you have the knowledge and
experience of all the people through daily voice messaging and e-mail
tips.
If
you have ever been to a UK football match, you might have 40,000 home
fans and 3,000 away fans. Now all the home fans have a
passion for their team, but there will be some 4-5,000 home fans with a
real passion to sing for their team, but they sit all over the ground
and are not connected.
Now
the away fans have total passion to sing for their team and you find
3,000 away fans sing louder than 40,000 home fans. This same
power is what happens to the energy of the system, through voice
messaging and e-mail loops.
In
the next few chapters, we will show how to work the information to make
the synergy work and what not to do.
VOICE
MESSAGING
Tips
to show how to work it.
If
there is some positive press or TV programme, everybody can get the
information fast to watch or buy a copy of the magazine.
A
voice messaging system should be run by one leader. This
person shall be in charge of putting a daily positive message
out. Maximum length only a couple of minutes. Best
if it goes out at the same time every day.
This
lets the team know that a leader is setting a good positive
example. I have been putting out a message at 9:00am every
morning for 7 years. If I am on holiday in a different time
zone I put the message out so that it arrives at 9:00am UK time, so
there is a positive message in the morning when the team gets up.
Messages
should be a mixture of Retail, Products, Sponsoring and Lifestyle and
most good messaging companies will have industry experts leaving a
message at least once a week.
Most
good messaging services will allow you to link a story to your
message. In the early months I used to just tell a story I
had heard. However, people thought I was making it
up. If you hear different people explain a story, your mind
then knows it is real and you go to work.
Remember
Facts Tell – Stories Sell
Also
ask for new ideas. Even though your system will work
perfectly, the world moves on and new ideas are always coming up.
Sometimes
a brand new person will come up with a great idea.
The
amount of messaging I have had over the years, takes the new person
through the first few weeks when they can be a bit weak and it keeps
them seeing the big picture.
There
is a Rule called the 21 Day Rule – anything you do for 21
days becomes a habit. So make sure the first form they sign
is the Voice Messaging Form before the Company application.
Most good voice messaging companies will give you a month free
trial. So the new distributor has nothing to lose.
Also make sure they pass a message to you, so they know how it works.
Your
Voice Messaging box can be used to take leads, so you don’t
need an extra line in the house. It can take 20 calls coming
in at the same time. You can also pass leads to your
downlines voice messaging boxes.
VOICE
MESSAGING TIPS ON HOW IT CAN WORK NEGATIVELY
The
biggest mistake distributors make is putting too many messages down the
system.
I
have heard examples of people putting twenty-four messages down a day,
and guess what? People just delete them and even worse, come
off the system because there is no room for leads. You see
today time is money and people are less patient than years
ago. Remember before microwave ovens, your mother used to
spend hours making tea.
Now
people pace up and down watching for the 3 minutes to come up on the
microwave, so it’s better not to put too many messages
down. The story of the boy who kept saying his house was on
fire, and said it so many times, that when the house was on fire nobody
listened and the house burned down.
So
think before you start sending loads of messages down the system, you
want people listening. Even worse they will come off the
system. Also use the system for information that will effect
everybody.
I
have had people who have lost car keys at a meeting or have lost their
cat, wanting me to put down a message. I know it’s
important to them, however if you think only 3% of your system or less
were at that meeting, how would the other 97% feel about
that. Also I’ve been asked to sell cars, computers,
remind people of birthdays, etc.
If
you start sending rubbish down the system, you again lose the chance
that people will listen to all messages or worse come off.
E-MAIL
LOOPS
Some
of that information could be put down
e-mail
loops.
Tips
to make them work.
With
the power of the internet you can loop large numbers of people
together. A program I use is GetResponse You can
contact up to 100,000 people on a list and it will come out with the
recipient’s first name.
This
program can be great for following
e-mails
too.
Send
out 1 or 2 e-mails a week. At the beginning show what is
going to be in the
e-mail.
People might just want to read the relevant bit.
Put
in the e-mail, top retailers, top personal group sales, notice of
meetings coming up, pictures of top people, lifestyle and tips from
around the world. This gives a bit for everybody, some people
like facts and figures, some people like pictures and some like tips.
Again
once you start something follow it through. It’s
going to take at least five years to build a good solid team.

E-MAIL
TIPS TO SHOW HOW IT DOES NOT WORK
The
most important is don’t send too many
e-mails.
The
story about the boy shouting fire – fire. Most
people get so many e-mails, you have only a few seconds before it is
deleted. So if you are sending more than one e-mail a day, it
will not be read.
If
it’s too long, without explaining what’s in it, it
will not be read. Don’t add an attachment, people
will not open in case of viruses. If you have a picture, or a
copy of a cheque, set up as a web link.
All
the above have earned us over £2,000,000 so far.
The
different Legs of our team which are moving fastest are using the
system most.
